Racking |
One of the basic functions of machine knitting where one or more stitches are transferred to another needle to the left or right of their current positions. This can produce a zigzag effect and is also one of the steps in making a cable stitch on a double bed machine. |
Refusal |
A Refusal may occur when a Purchase Order is delivered to a consolidator or buyer that does not comply with the terms of the Purchase Order contract. Refusals are put “on hand,” and all expenses are borne by the seller. The seller usually has 30 days to give disposition to the party in possession of the shipment. After that, it is free to be salvaged in order to recover expenses. |
Return Authorization |
An authorization number that is obtained from the supplier prior to returning merchandise under a filed claim. |
Rib Knit (Ribbing) |
A group of stitches alternating jersey and reverse jersey (purl) to create a vertical ribbed effect and create a more elastic textile. Because of the additional elasticity, ribbed knits are often used at the openings or bottoms of a garment for a snug and comfortable fit. |
